Art Basket - Gemima 10 Cows
Master weaver Mr John has woven local knowledge and meaning through symbols into this exquisitely handwoven basket. The house symbol depicts the rich tradition of the local housing which signifies the beauty of living together in community. I believe it’s what we are all seeking in one one or another and thus this basket’s story really felt like home to me.
A basket so great it is worthy of 10 cows! Jemima Akologo was the first to weave this type of basket in Bolgatanga, so of course we named it after her and her master skills. Jemima has taught and inspired many of our weavers with her innovative approach to traditional Gurunsi folklore.
Your purchase of this artisan basket assists us to continue ethical employment with this cooperative and promotes artisan innovation and entrepreneurship.
