Fantastic Handwoven Fans - Colour Lovers
Haute, hand-held handwoven fans.
The compact size of these fans give great insight and understanding of the incredible colour craftsmanship of the Baba Tree Artisans with whom I work. Each fan holds an energy and vibrancy that is completely unique!
BACKSTORY: These fans were used and are still used by women in traditional Gurunsi funeral ceremonies in the Upper East region of Ghana. The women dance with the fans while singing “Kingkelenga” supporting the men’s war dance sung and performed during traditional burial rites. These same women weave these fans and are happy to share their incredible craft and culture. Also, for the use of keeping cool.
